Lets dive right in!

Water!
Water is categorized as an essential nutrient because our body needs more water than it can produce. Our bodies do so much for us, we should help it out by sippin' on some H2O...right?

 Water

  • helps regulate our body temperature
  • helps build and protect our cells
  • transports nutrients and oxygen throughout our body
  • removes waste
  • secretes saliva and moistens the tissues in our eyes and nose
  • lubricates our joints
  • delays fatigue
  • lower stress levels

Did you know that we lose water when we breathe?
The fog that you see when you breathe out on a cold day is water vapor exiting your body. We also lose water by sweating, and through our digestion. Don't panic, that's what our body is supposed to do. Those are the ways water removes waste from our body.

It is important that we balance out the water loss and replenish our water stores so that our body can function properly! A good goal to have is to keep a balance between your water loss and water intake throughout the day. Everyone is different so it is important to find what works best for you!

The Dietary Reference Intake for water is
  • 2.7 Liters of water per day for women
  • 3.7 liters of water per day for men
Those numbers are a dietary reference intake, meaning that they are a suggestion. If that feels like too much or too little, then adjust it to your needs.

My favorite piece of advice is from Nalgene...
